The Lancia Delta Group A is one of the most successful racing cars of all time. A legend that has collected 46 victories in World Rally races and won six Constructors 'titles consecutively, plus four Drivers' titles with Biasion and Kankkunen.
In the first volume, enriched by the preface by Miki Biasion, the sporting deeds of the Delta Group A are retraced, with the relative technical data sheets and the transparent drawings of all the versions. Née en 1979, la familiale compacte Lancia Delta n'est pas programmée au départ pour s'illustrer sur la scène mondiale des rallyes. La Stratos puis, au début des années 1980, la 037 jouent ce rôle. Mais comme la concurrence (Audi, Peugeot) développe des 4-roues motrices pour le Mondial des rallyes (Quattro, 205 T16), Lancia réagit d'abord en présentant un proto Delta 4x4 fin 1982, puis en élaborant la Delta S4 groupe B, laquelle remporte le RAC dès sa première sortie fin 1985 au nez et à la barbe des autres groupes B patentées citées ci-dessus.
Une S4 devient l'épouvantail de la saison 1986 jusqu'au Tour de Corse où le pilote phare de Lancia, Toivonen, se tue. Un accident qui signe l'arrêt de mort de ces monstrueuses Groupes B. Mais Lancia réagit vite en 1987 avec une Delta HF 4WD base commerciale pour la voiture de rallye, laquelle attaque la même année la saison WRC et devient une première fois championne du monde des rallyes.
