Présentée sous la forme d'un concept-car au Salon de Francfort 1995, l'Audi TT débute officiellement sa carrière à l'automne 1998. Ce coupé sportif se distingue par son design novateur, inspiré par les préceptes du Bauhaus.
Il est rapidement épaulé par un très désirable roadster, aux lignes tout aussi originales. Des déclinaisons de plus en plus ambitieuses rejoignent le catalogue, à l'instar du V6 ou du rarissime Quattro Sport.

Toujours plus puissante, une seconde génération entre en scène en 2006. Le TT arbore pour la première fois la griffe RS, et reçoit pour l'occasion le mythique cinq-cylindres en ligne, indissociable des exploits de la marque en compétition. Une montée en gamme confirmée par la troisième génération, commercialisée dès 2014.
