Produced between May 1979 and June 1992 in more than 1, 350, 000 units, the Peugeot 505 succeeded the valiant 504 and the luxurious 604.
Despite the serious financial crisis that the Peugeot brand was undergoing at the time, the 505, the brand's last rear-wheel drive saloon, would challenge a new generation of French saloon cars converted to front-wheel drive, like the Citroën CX and the Renault 20, and even managed to come in a multitude of versions, from the most sensible to the most original.
The large saloon enjoyed considerable success, with some exotic versions, like a version produced in Argentina.

Competing with the best German references in the segment thanks in particular to its Turbo Injection sports cars, the GTIs and the V6 S, the Peugeot 505 was able to carve out a fine career in the automotive world until it died in 1992.

La Peugeot 305 de mon père

It has been forgotten, but between the reign of the 504 and that of the 205, the star of the Peugeot range was called the 305. This family car had a very good commercial start at the end of 1977. In 1979, it was even the third best-selling car in France.

Due to Pininfarina, its classic but good-natured style appealed to the "silent majority". Peugeot even intended it for a time for competition. However, its success faded in 1980, forcing Peugeot to make a comeback.
It came with the 305 series 2, with the achievements of aerodynamic research and brand new engines. The journalists who tested it at the start of the 1982 school year found it so changed that they called it the 306!

It is this pivotal model, straddling two major eras for Peugeot and produced in 1.7 million units, that this book aims to rediscover today.

La Peugeot 309 de mon père

Legendarily reliable, safe and dynamic, the Peugeot 309 is today the automotive symbol of the 1980s. Developed on the same technical basis as its legendary older sister the Peugeot 205, it was not however predestined to become a star. Initially, its mission was simply to replace a moribund Talbot Horizon after the acquisition of Chrysler-Simca by Peugeot in 1978.
