La 1400 è stata il primo grande nuovo progetto della Fiat nel dopoguerra. Vettura innovativa, con la scocca portante, la carrozzeria "ponton" a tre volumi ed anche il motore Diesel, ha rappresentato il passaggio al modo moderno di costruire automobili.
Affiancata dalla 1900 e dalle esclusive versioni Cabriolet e Granluce, è stato il modello Fiat di alta classe per tutti gli anni Cinquanta.

Vettura difficile da contestualizzare, nata quasi per caso e divenuta immediatamente celebre, la 8V è uno dei sogni proibiti del primo dopoguerra. Bellissima e meccanicamente raffinata, non ebbe, tuttavia, un vero successo né commerciale né sportivo.
Ciò nonostante, è una delle Fiat più famose e ammirate di tutti i tempi, grazie anche alle interpretazioni dei carrozzieri.

In the history of the automobile, Fiat 1100 is probably one of the few cars that is so closely identified with a cubic capacity. For more than 30 years, if one considers its pre-war production, the "1100" was a symbol of the medium-size Italian family runabout, able to transport four people in complete comfort at extremely low cost. The robustness and reliability of its engine was proverbial, an absolute strong point of the 1100 which was able to withstand numerous motor sport-type conversions.

The book covers the history of this unforgettable car from 1953, the year of the debut of the Nuova 1100/103, to the end of the 60s when the 1100 R - as always, available as a saloon or estate car - closed the technical and industrial life of this glorious model.

Fiat n'est pas un constructeur généraliste comme tous les autres. Si la marque a produit des voitures populaires à des cadences élevées, elle a toujours proposé des versions plus sportives présentées dans ce livre.

La 1300 e la 1500 sono state il prodotto di classe della Fiat negli anni Sessanta, dal boom economico alla "congiuntura". Berline sobrie, eleganti e raffi nate, superiori alla media ma senza eccessi, interpretavano i gusti della buona borghesia nazionale, ancora legata ad un'elegante formalità all'alba di un momento di forte transizione.
Le versioni familiari, al contrario, rappresentano un bell'esempio di concetto ancora troppo innovativo per essere compreso davvero.

The Fiat 1800 and 2100 (and later the 2300) represent the flagship models the Turin-based firm offered in the mid-Sixties to a clientele looking for a large, elegant, robust and reliable car at a price undercutting the contemporary Lancias and Alfa Romeos. Along with the classic saloon versions, a modern station-wagon and a ceremonial long-wheelbase variant were also offered. They were all powered by a refined straight-six.

The range was extended in 1961 with the splendid and powerful 2300 S Coupé bodied by Ghia, one of the most successful and attractive Fiat sports cars, while the following year it was the turn of the more economical four-cylinder 1500 L.

This book tells the story of the birth and development of this significant family of Fiat cars, presenting the technical issues and historical details of the various versions produced. Equipped with detailed technical files and illustrated with numerous contemporary images, the book also provides a very useful guide to restoration and invaluable maintenance tips.
