IFA F8, F9, P70 - Serienmodelle seit 1948 (Schrader Typen Chronik)
Auto Union was one of the losers of the war, but the Zwickau car manufacturers at the Horch and Audi plants were able to produce cars again around 1949. First the pre-war DKW F 8 Meisterklasse, then the similar F 9.
Based on the old DKW car, now with a new body paneled for the first time with duroplastic parts, the P 70 then bridged the period until the new GDR small car was finally ready for series production, which, as the "Trabant", shaped the automotive history of the East like no other vehicle.
Frank Rönicke offers excellent type portraits for all GDR car enthusiasts.
