Jusqu'aux années 1980, les camions et autobus portant l'emblème du lion des Welfs faisaient partie du paysage urbain et du transport de voyageurs. Pendant de nombreuses décennies, l'entreprise de Brunswick détenait une part de marché d'environ cinquante pour cent dans le domaine des poids lourds et surtout des autobus urbains, qu'il s'agisse de véhicules standards, articulés ou à deux étages. Büssing was known for building high-quality and reliable buses in addition to heavy and sturdy trucks. Countless bus types and variants left the Braunschweig factory.
And with success, because in the 1960s Büssing was at the top of German regular-service bus registrations with its Senator, Prefect and President series. "An attractive, compact vehicle with the driving characteristics of a car, " wrote the trade press at the time.

Büssing-Busse bei Bahn und Post

The railway and the post office were the largest individual customers of the legendary commercial vehicle brand Büssing in the bus sector. While the Reichspost already had a considerable Büssing fleet before the Second World War and expanded this significantly from 1949 with the new trambuses and later with groundbreaking new designs, the Reichsbahn was only able to put a few cars with the famous "spider" into service at the front before 1939.

It was only the young Bundesbahn that procured large numbers of units from the Braunschweig factory halls in the 1950s and 1960s. The yellow postal buses and the red railway buses were delivered in a wide variety of models until Büssing's independent bus production ended in 1971/72.
Atmospherically dense operational photos of the "Büssing Lions" at the two state-owned companies characterize this EK book.
