The genesis of the Mirage 2000 is part of the development of the latest experimental prototypes of Avions Marcel Dassault, particularly the Mirage 4000. The Mirage 2000, whose first prototype flew in 1978, has formed the backbone of French combat aviation since 1984, with five different versions, implemented by the Air Force in 12 fighter squadrons.
The versions of the Mirage 2000 have been able to carry out multiple missions, on national territory, during numerous exercises and in external theaters of operations.
