The Moto Guzzi Story (3rd Edition)

The story of Moto Guzzi is a story of survival. As one of Italy's oldest, and most legendary marques, Moto Guzzi had seen the height of success during the 1930s, and then the 1950s when they dominated 250 and 350cc Grand Prix racing.
Their withdrawal from racing coincided with a period of stagnation until the company was sold to De Tomaso in 1973.

During the 1970s the V7 Sport and Le Mans were at the forefront of the new superbike era, and later, with Dr John Wittner's help, embraced contemporary technology with the 1000cc Daytona.
If one aspect characterises Moto Guzzi it is continuity. The great 500cc Falcone single ran from 1950 until 1976, and the V7, originally seeing the light of day in 1967, continued well into the 2010s.

This continuity breeds loyalty, and Guzzi owners are a fiercely proud breed. Guzzis are not like other motorcycles, even Italian ones, and to qualify as a Guzzi owner requires a dedication and individuality that will be rewarded in a long term relationship.

The Complete Book of Moto Guzzi : Every Model Since 1921

Holding the distinction of being the oldest European motorcycle manufacturer in continuous production, Italy's Moto Guzzi has built some of the most iconic motorcycles ever produced. Established in 1921, the company is one of the most traditional motorcycle makers, and also one of the most innovative.
Moto Guzzi was formed by Carlo Guzzi, Giovanni Ravelli, and Giorgio Parodi after WW I. Carlo Guzzi's first engine design, a horizontal single, defined Moto Guzzi's road-going motorcycles for the company's first 45 years. In the 1950s, Moto Guzzi experienced tremendous success in Grand Prix motorcycle racing.

Moto Guzzi has experienced low points as well as high points. In February 1967, a state controlled receiver took ownership of Moto Guzzi. It was while in receivership that Guzzi developed the 90-degree V twin engine that came to define Moto Guzzi.
De Tomaso Industries Inc. purchased Moto Guzzi in 1973. In 2000 Aprilia S.p.A acquired Moto Guzzi. In 2004, Piaggio & C. S.p.A acquired Aprilia. With the financial backing of a large corporation like Piaggio, Moto Guzzi was once again on firm financial footing, and sales have been on the rise.

For the first time ever, "The Complete Book of Moto Guzzi: Every Model Since 1921" collects all of these iconic motorcycle in encyclopedia form, written by widely respected Moto Guzzi expert Ian Falloon.

Moto Guzzi Motorcycles - Since 1921

There are many ways of designing a motorcycle, but it takes a great deal of artistic sensitivity to create a legend from only two cylinders. That is exactly what Moto Guzzi, the prestige manufacturer in Mandello del Lario, has done. Active in motorcycle construction since 1920, particularly in the years after 1945 it created motorcycles that made history, especially those with the powerful V-twin engine installed lengthwise in the chassis.

For forty years the V-twin four-stroke engine has been the Italian company's flagship. The fine Italians, Le Mans, and California types, and the small 125s, 250s and 350s are described here with accuracy and detail. This comprehensive volume describes all models and technical details.

As is the style of the authors, they also provide background information about the company and the industry. It is not all about machines and horsepower, but also the people who put their stamp on the operations: not only a treat for fans of serious technical information, but a gripping story as well.
