Les hélicoptères issus de la lignée du premier hélicoptère R22 conçu par Franck Robinson sont aujourd'hui les hélicoptères civils les plus vendus au monde. Ses performances honorables, son prix d'achat raisonnable et son coût d'entretien réduit en ont fait un hélicoptère que l'on ne peut pas ignorer.
Vous trouverez difficilement un pilote qui reste neutre face à cette machine. Elle a son camp de détracteurs farouches aussi bien qu'une majorité croissante de pilotes qui ne jurent plus que par elle.

Sa modernité et son absence d'entretien entre les révisions ont malheureusement conduit certains pilotes à devenir trop confiants et négligents. Cette machine reste néanmoins un hélicoptère avec toute sa complexité mécanique. Sa grande agilité nécessite une finesse de pilotage qui ne pardonne pas certains mauvais réflexes.

Les taux d'accidents élevés des premières années ont été fortement réduits grâce à des actions de formation ciblées auprès des pilotes. Le 'Robinson Safety Course' en est un exemple. A l'origine destiné aux instructeurs, ce cours de sécurité sur le pilotage des Robinson R22 et R44 est à recommander chaudement à tous les pilotes.

Développé au départ pour répondre à la demande d'élèves cherchant à connaître un peu mieux leur hélicoptère, il nous a paru intéressant de publier ce petit ouvrage dédié aux procédures au sol du R22.
En effet il est apparu que ces parties, qui semblent triviales comparées au pilotage, aient tendance à être rapidement oubliées par le pilote occasionnel.
