Szerokim torem - LHS

The LHS (Linia Hutnicza Szerokotorowa, formerly Linia Hutniczo-Siarkowa from 1976 to 2001) is Poland's longest railway line with a broad gauge (1520 mm) commonly used in former USSR countries. The book provides accessible insights into the rationale behind constructing such an atypical railway line, connecting Hrubieszów with the Dąbrowa Basin.

The publication intricately details the route variations, construction, and ongoing operation, including aspects such as traction rolling stock and passenger traffic. Richly illustrated with photographs, some previously unpublished, the book documents the LHS from its construction to the present day.

Schienen verbinden Deutschland und Polen

Die deutsch-polnische Grenze, festgelegt nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg, erstreckt sich entlang von Oder und (Lausitzer) Neiße. Die Deutsche Demokratische Republik (DDR) unterzeichnete 1950 den Vertrag mit der Volksrepublik Polen über diese "Friedensgrenze".
Die Anerkennung durch die Bundesrepublik Deutschland erfolgte 1970. Über die letzten 70 Jahre entwickelten sich gute nachbarliche Beziehungen zwischen Deutschland und Polen, verstärkt durch den EU-Beitritt Polens 2004 und das Schengener Abkommen 2007.

Die Liberalisierung und Interoperabilität im Schienenverkehr beseitigen zunehmend kommerzielle und technische Barrieren über Grenzen hinweg. Dieses Buch würdigt detailliert die Geschichte und Zukunft der Bahnhöfe an diesen Übergängen, die meist als Gemeinschaftsbahnhöfe betrieben werden.
Aktuelle Gleispläne, historische und moderne Fotos dokumentieren den Bahnverkehr über Oder und Neiße. Übersichtskarten und Tabellen bieten einen klaren Überblick, während ein statistischer Teil die technischen Daten polnischer Triebfahrzeuge präsentiert.
