Brabants transport
Midden-Brabant is the third logistics region in the Netherlands. Many transport companies are located in this region and the trucks that drive there are very recognizable. In this book, a number of companies are featured with an introductory story with the history and other relevant and interesting matters. This is followed by many photos in order from oldest to most recent with informative captions and anecdotes. A mix of existing and non-existing transport companies was chosen. For a number of companies, more emphasis was placed on a certain period because of the available material.
The final result is a book with interesting companies, special photos from horse and cart to the current Euro-6 trucks, fascinating company histories but above all a beautiful image of the development of both transport and trucks over the years.
The companies described are: - Appels transport & expeditie B.V. - Wed. J. van Casteren & Zonen B.V. - De Hart Temperature Controlled Transports B.V. - Kivits Drunen B.V. - Transportbedrijf J. van der Linden B.V. - Martens transport Oosterhout B.V. - Opzeeland B.V. - Jan Schilders B.V. internationale transporten - Wed. A. Verhoeven en zonen expeditie-, transport- en veembedrijven B.V. - Gebr. Versteijnen Transport & Logistics B.V. - Wim Vos internationale transporten B.V. - E. van Wijk Logistics B.V.

A worn and rusted truck or bus is a beautiful sight to behold. Many of these vehicles end up at dealers or at the scrapyard after an intensive and hard-working life. For years, the trucks and sometimes the buses are left at a location to slowly decay. Dull and green, they wait for better times.
Visiting a scrapyard in particular is a real experience. The vehicles are often higgledy-piggledy and sometimes they are completely absorbed by nature. It gives a very special feeling to walk around among all those old vehicles.
Fortunately, there are several enthusiastic people who have been to the sites and have taken the most beautiful photos. These photos have been collected and a selection has been made that gives a nice overview of the "heritage of Dutch road transport" in a rusted state. The atmosphere of the scrapyards in particular has been captured as much as possible in this book.
Vehicles in their final years have also been included in the book. There are photos of; front-wheel drive and torpedo trucks, buses, vans, tractors, box trucks, concrete mixers, fire engines, fairground trucks, tippers, gully emptiers, military trucks, tow trucks, tankers and garbage trucks. The buses are given attention in a separate chapter.

This book deals with the transport of fairground attractions. After a chapter on historical fairground transport, stories about the fair itself follow. Then there are chapters devoted to trucks, trailers, semi-trailers, mid-structure wagons, pastry stalls, food sales wagons and game wagons, as well as power supply. The book also deals with the aspects of living and life at the fair, followed by special cash registers and transports of operators. Reversing wagons for precise positioning, restored fairground trucks and miniatures are also not lacking.
In the midst of all the transport, the attractions themselves are also highlighted, including tickets, ride tokens, cabin drawings, and there is a register of attractions and operators. With over 700 photographs, the book offers a wonderful overview of the development of fairground transport, with a focus on the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
