Die Firma Wilhag aus dem rheinischen Langenfeld wurde in den fünfziger Jahren bekannt durch ihre schweren Abschleppkräne, die oft auf Kaelble-Fahrgestellen zum Einsatz kamen. Legendär auch die Kräne, die es in grosser Stückzahl bei der Bundeswehr auf dem Magirus Jupiter 6 X 6 gab.
Weniger bekannt ist, dass aus dem Hause Wilhag unzählige weitere Konstruktionen kamen, die das Heben, Baggern und Fördern leichter machten.

Das vorliegende Buch bietet mit einer Vielzahl von Fotos einen Überblick über alle von Wilhag und MFL gefertigten Bagger und Kräne im Werk und bei der Arbeit. Dabei kamen die unterschiedlichsten Lkw-Fahrgestelle ebenso zum Einsatz wie Eigenkonstruktionen.
Der Autor Wolfgang Jumpertz, selbst jahrzehntelang Wilhag-Mitarbeiter, hat eine Dokumentation zusammengetragen, wie es sie auf diesem Gebiet sonst nicht gibt.
