Alfa Romeo Giulia Technical Manual - for 1962 and Onwards Carbureted Models

Alfa Romeo never published an 'all inclusive' workshop manual for the Giulia series of automobiles. Instead, they produced a number of individual 'Technical' publications that provided model specific information plus individual 'Mechanical Repair' publications that were focused on the overhaul and service of various mechanical and electrical components.
The intention was that these two separate publications were to be used in conjunction with each other in order to provide both technical and mechanical data for a particular model.

This manual is a compilation of the factory 'Technical Characteristics' publications listed below and while the list is not inclusive the publications were selected as being representative for the 1300 cc, 1600 cc and 1750 cc series of carbureted Alfa Romeo Giulia models.

As noted previously, Alfa Romeo also issued 'Mechanical Repair' publications. As these publications were meant to be used in conjunction with the factory 'Technical' publications, we feel it is important that the reader is aware that the associated Workshop Manual compliments this technical manual.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Technical Manual - for 1969 and Onwards SPICA Fuel Injected Models

Alfa Romeo did not publish a single comprehensive workshop manual for the Giulia series. Instead, they released two types of documents: model-specific technical publications and separate mechanical repair manuals. The technical publications included maintenance instructions and specifications, while the repair manuals focused on servicing and overhauling mechanical and electrical parts.

These two sets of documents were meant to be used together to cover all service and repair needs for each model.

Although the titles varied, the technical publications can be classified mainly as maintenance and specification manuals. Notably, they are the only factory-issued sources that provide detailed information on the maintenance, repair, and adjustment of the SPICA fuel injection system, including troubleshooting guidance.

This manual is a compilation of the factory 'Technical' publications listed below and, while the list is not inclusive, the publications were selected as being representative for the 1750 cc and 2000 cc series of SPICA fuel injected Alfa Romeo Giulia models.

Alfa Romeo Giulia Workshop Manual (1962-1975) - All Models - 1300, 1600, 1750 & 2000cc

Alfa Romeo did not release a complete workshop manual for the Giulia series. Instead, they published separate 'Mechanical Repair' manuals focused on servicing and overhauling mechanical and electrical parts, along with 'Technical Characteristics' documents that provided model-specific information.
These were intended to be used together to cover all necessary technical and mechanical details for each vehicle.

This book combines content from seven official 'Mechanical Repair' manuals and includes extra pages with maintenance procedures, repair instructions, overhaul guidance, and wiring diagrams not found in the original factory documents.

As a result, it serves as a general workshop manual for the repair and overhaul of Giulia models from 1965 to 1971. However, since Alfa Romeo models produced between 1962 and 1975 shared many mechanical components, this manual is also relevant for earlier and later models.
For instance, although the engines came in four different sizes, they are similar enough that a single set of service and overhaul instructions is sufficient.

The factory 'Mechanical Repair' publications included in this Manual are:

(3) "ATE Disc Brakes all models" (1969) - Only sections that are 'owner appropriate' are included.
(4) "Wheel, Suspension & Front End Geometry, for all Giulia and 1750 Models (1970)" - Only sections that are 'owner appropriate' are included.
(5) Electrical for the 1600 Giulia Super, 1750 Berlina, 1750 GT Veloce & 1750 Spider Veloce. (1969)" - Only sections that are 'owner appropriate' are included.
(6) "Air Conditioning - all models (1972)" - Only sections that are 'owner appropriate' are included.
(7) "Body, for all Giulia and 1750 Models (1970)" - Only sections that are 'owner appropriate' are included.

The additional pages in this manual include maintenance and repair information on:
- Drum brakes, hydraulic braking system, Dunlop disc brakes and additional information on ATE disc brakes.
- Front hubs, shock absorbers and stabilizer rod, ZF steering box, Burman steering box, steering linkage and steering adjustments.
- Electrical components including control box, regulator, generator, starter motor, windscreen wiper motor (both Bosch & Marelli), lamps and lighting and wiring diagrams for 14 different models.

Alfa Romeo never issued a publication that was exclusive to the repair and maintenance of the SPICA fuel injection system. However, that information is included in the appropriate technical publications for the fuel injected cars.
