Au lendemain de Pearl Harbour, l'industrie d'outre-Atlantique mobilise toutes ses forces pour se consacrer à la seule production de guerre. Chrysler, un des trois grands constructeurs automobiles, s'engage alors résolument dans de nombreux programmes d'armement : blindés, munitions, pièces d'artillerie, moteurs d'avions sortent massivement des usines du groupe.

Le Weapons Carrier s'est décliné dans de multiples versions - transport de personnel, sanitaire, radio, véhicule de commandement - et a été livré largement à l'US Army, mais aussi aux Alliés, britanniques, soviétiques ou français libres.
Robustes et fiables, les camionnettes Dodge ont continué à servir bien après le conflit, dans de nombreuses armées occidentales comme dans le secteur civil où, après leur réforme, elles ont poursuivi une nouvelle et longue carrière.
