Die Stärkste: SBB Re 6/6 - Sechsachsige Güterzuglok Re 620
The SBB Re 6/6 was designed to relieve the aging Ae 6/6, particularly on the Gotthard route.
The test runs of the prototype locomotives 11601 and 11602 began on May 15 and June 5, 1972. Delivery of the first series started in 1975, followed by a second series from the end of 1977 to the end of 1980. A total of four prototypes and 85 series machines were built.
With a power output of 10.600 hp, the Re 6/6 is considered the strongest Swiss locomotive.
This book provides insights into the planning, construction, and deployment of this impressive six-axle machine. Many previously unpublished photos make it a must-have for any Swiss railway enthusiast.
