Die V 160-Familie (Band 3) - Die Baureihe 218
The diesel locomotives of the 218 series represent the technical high point of the extremely successful V 160 family of the Deutsche Bundesbahn. Even after a good four decades of use, the 218 is still indispensable at DB AG today, even though its ranks have thinned considerably in recent years.
Although the use of the 218 at DB Regio is declining sharply, numerous machines have found new tasks in other areas, including as ICE towing locomotives at DB Fernverkehr, in the Sylt shuttle service of DB AutoZug, in the nationwide construction train service and much more. The use of the 218 is therefore extremely varied today. A number of these machines have now found a new home with private railways or are even being preserved as museum locomotives.

Rundnasen und Kartoffelkäfer - Die NoHAB-Europalokomotiven
NEW
The diesel locomotives known as "Rundnase, " "Dicknase, " or "Kartoffelkäfer" have achieved cult status. Starting in 1954, 159 locomotives of this type were built under an EMD license at NoHAB in Trollhättan (Sweden) for Norway, Denmark, and Hungary. Additionally, AFB produced 40 locomotives for Belgium and four for Luxembourg. The design is based on the American F-series and B-class but was adapted to European requirements.
The last regular operations ended in 2000/2001 in Hungary, Norway, and Denmark. In Belgium, they were retired a few years earlier, in Luxembourg in 1994. However, many of these robust locomotives are still in service with private railways, mainly in Denmark, Sweden, and Germany.
The first part of the illustrated book looks back at the final years of operation with state railways. The second part focuses on the locomotives still active today, with an emphasis on Germany.
Contents of the book: - Foreword - Introduction - The first series - Belgian "sisters" - Between the fjord and the Arctic Circle - From the Puszta to Lake Balaton - With the cult locomotive into the 21st century - MX and MY on private railways - Di3 from the Erzbahn to Sicily - The round noses in Germany.
