Histoire du materiel de motoculture

Le motoculteur, né dans les années 1920, en même temps que le tracteur, participe activement à la motorisation de l'agriculture spécialisée et y occupe une place importante jusqu'aux années 1970-1980.
La motofaucheuse, apparue également dans les années 1930, révolutionne la fenaison en montagne à partir de 1950 et permet aux agriculteurs de se libérer du travail manuel existant jusqu'alors.

C'est le motoculteur et la miniaturisation des moteurs qui sont à l'origine de tous les matériels de jardinage à moteur apparus depuis, tels motobineuses, tondeuses à moteur, tronçonneuses, débroussailleuses, tailleuses de haies ou broyeurs de végétaux, et ont donné naissance à un nouveau métier : la motoculture de plaisance.

L'auteur, acteur de cette péri nous fait revivre le parcours des pionniers de la motorisation de l'horticulture, de la viticulture et de la petite agriculture. Il étaye son récit de témoignages des survivants de cette époque ou de leurs héritiers qui, en collectionneurs passionnés, ont conservé les matériels et les documents de l'époque.
