Fokker S14 Machtrainer

De Fokker S-14 Machtrainer was het eerste Nederlandse straalvliegtuig. Tevens was het de eerste zodanig ontworpen straaltrainer ter wereld. Alle eerste straaltrainers uit die tijd waren in feite tweezits uitvoeringen van reeds bestaande jager types.
Fokker hoopte met de S-14 op grote orders, niet alleen vanuit de NAVO landen, maar ook uit de rest van de wereld.

De werkelijkheid was helaas anders. Besluiteloosheid van de NAVO partners om de S-14 aan te schaffen, de keuze van de KLu voor de T-33 voor de gevorderde jachtvlieg opleiding en het gebrek aan vertrouwen van de Raad van Bestuur van Fokker in de S-14, zorgden ervoor dat de S-14 totaal geen kans had.
De order voor 20 stuks voor de Nederlandse luchtmacht moeten we derhalve als 'symbolisch' beschouwen!
Dit boek beschrijft het volledige verhaal van de S-14 Machtrainer vanaf de eerste ontwerpen tot aan nu met veel nog nimmer gepubliceerde gegevens en illustraties!
