ICE, l'histoire du train allemand

The InterCity-Express (ICE) has been a symbol of pride for Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG) for three decades. Carrying more than 250, 000 passengers daily at a maximum speed of 300 km/h, these fast trains play a key role. Some of them run along the LGV Est Européenne, connecting Paris to Strasbourg, welcoming French passengers.

The history of the ICE has its roots in 1985 with the IC-Experimental, which then evolved into the ICE 1 (series 401) in 1991, which is still in service. In 1993, the ICE 2 (402 series) allowed the use of double trains for Y-shaped services. Following this line, the ICE 3, capable of reaching 300 km/h, was born to serve the new high-speed line between Frankfurt and Cologne.
The 412 series, the latest addition to the ICE family, currently runs with the ICE 4, while the future ICE 3 neo (408 series) is in the test phase with a view to taking over.

Marc Dahlbeck recounts the remarkable technological evolution of the last thirty years, detailing the various generations of ICE, which have become ever more efficient. The book offers a complete overview of the technical aspects and history of the different ICE trains.

An overview of all the seating carriages, dining cars, sleeping cars and saloon cars in use by Deutsche Bahn AG. Discussed are both the origins and the special features of each vehicle model. Technical data and facts presented in tabular form complement the respective vehicle portrait. A special chapter explains the marking system of the passenger carriages described.

Peter Wagner and Wolfgang Theurich have been known for many years for their publications on passenger carriages in the German Carriage Archive.

Each type is presented with a photo, a historical description and technical data.

Reisezugwagen der DB Regio AG - seit 1994 (Typenkompass)

This Typenkompass provides a detailed overview of all DB Regio AG's seating cars in use. As is usual in the book series, the author describes the origins and special features of each vehicle. Each vehicle description is accompanied by a table with the most important technical data.

In his book, Peter Wagner not only deals with two- to four-axle vehicles, narrow and standard gauge, but also explains the marking system of passenger coaches in a separate chapter, thus creating a book that is a must for every railway enthusiast.

Deutsche Bahn's electric commuter trains may not break records or offer the luxury of ICE trains, but they play an undeniably central role in German rail transport. As the main players, they transport by far the most passengers and are thus essential to the viability of German cities.
This book is dedicated to recognizing these trains by tracing their development from history and describing their modern technology in detail.

The variety of trains used by DB is covered in detail, including the 422-426 series, the FLIRT from Stadler, the Alstom train CORADIA Continental and the new TALENT 2 from Bombardier. In addition, comparable trains from private railway companies and from neighboring countries are briefly presented.

The book presents all trains in new, high-quality illustrations and offers insights into otherwise hidden details through drawings. This work was created in close cooperation between the author Dr. Karl Gerhard Baur and the German rail vehicle industry.

ICE - Geschichte, Technik, Einsatz

The InterCity-Express is the pride of Deutsche Bahn AG. Its success story began in 1985 with the first test runs of the ICE Experimental. This vehicle was developed into the ICE-1 (series 401), which was in use from 1990 with the opening of the new Hanover-Würzburg line.
The ICE family quickly grew to include the ICE-2 and the ICE-3, which travels to Paris, Brussels and Amsterdam daily at speeds of over 300 km/h. The ICE-4 is now the youngest member of the family in use, and the family will continue to grow with the ICE-3neo.

In this book, Marc Dahlbeck presents everything important about the ICE.
