Created from elements of I./JG 77 and IV./JG 1 in January 1942, Jagdgeschwader 5 "Eismeer" is one of the lesser-known German fighter units of the Second World War. It nevertheless had an impressive operational history, as this book shows. The unit's successes were equally great.
The Geschwader's ranks included a number of outstanding fighter pilots who marked JG 5 and accounted for a large percentage of its victories: names like Bartels, Brunner, Carganico, Döbrich, Dörr, Ehrler, Linz, Mors, Müller, Norz, Schuck and Weissenberger will always be associated with JG 5.
Produced on the initiative of the Eismeerjäger Veterans Association, this account of operations by JG 5 is intended to further round out the history of the German fighter arm and provide the reader with a picture of the fighting in the far north.

The history of the World War II Luftwaffe bomber unit Kampfgeschwader 51 "Edelweiss" is documented here from its formation in 1937 until Germany's surrender in 1945.
Flying He 111s and Ju 88s, KG 51 was always committed over the war zone "hotspots" and earned a reputation as a "fire brigade" on every front - whether in France, over England, in the Balkans, or in the expanses of the Russian Front.
Towards the end of the war, KG 51 also flew the legendary Messerschmitt Me 262 on operations.
Based on war diaries, combat reports, and personal accounts, the author factually and vividly tells the story of KG 51 for the first time in English.

Flying Do 17, He 111, and Ju 88 aircraft, Luftwaffe bomber unit Kampfgeschwader 53 "Legion Condor" saw action in the campaigns in Poland and France, the Battle of Britain, Russia, and finally over the invasion front.
Towards the end of World War II, the He 111 aircraft of KG 53 served as flying launch platforms for the infamous V-1 in dangerous missions against England.
The author - a former member of the Geschwader - accurately documents the unit's formation, development, and combat operations and brings it to life through gripping personal accounts and historically valuable photographs.
This book is one of the few books in English on the wartime operations of a German bomber unit and an indispensable addition to Luftwaffe history.

Flying as an elite element of the Luftwaffe's bomber forces, KG 100 (Wiking) saw action throughout Europe and flew mission after mission against targets as diverse as the Suez Canal and Moscow.
Equipped with x-ray navigational systems, KG 100 flew as pathfinders, leading bomber streams against targets on mainland Britain. In 1940 the unit took part in the Norwegian campaign and, a year later, was involved in the bombing of Moscow.
Operations continued in the west with anti-shipping operations and in the east with operations in the Crimea and in support of besieged Germans in Stalingrad.
Whether bombing or pathfinding, KG 100 excelled at dangerous missions in all kinds of conditions and its reputation was such that it was the first unit to fly air-to-surface guided missile attacks against Allied shipping.
Manfred Griehl has drawn on his own unique archive to present rare photographs of the aircraft and their crews in action and on the ground. German Elite Pathfinders is another valuable addition to the Luftwaffe at War series and a handy visual guide to a crucial air campaign.
